Two people were taken into custody after a pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended with a crash near the Kenton High School early this morning.
According to a release from Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser, a resident on Maple Street reported that her vehicle was stolen at around one this morning.
An officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle in the area of Springbrook Apartments.
The vehicle fled as the officer approached and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued west onto Summit Street near Kenton High School before ending when the vehicle crashed into a fence.
After the crash, two suspects fled the vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued.
Officers were able to contain the surrounding area and eventually took the suspects into custody, north of where the crash occurred.
One of the individuals in the pursuit was suspected of possessing a stolen firearm, therefore as a precaution and due to the close proximity of Kenton High School and Kenton Middle School, officials from Kenton City Schools were notified of the situation, and the district was put on a two hour delay.
Eighteen-year-old Brad Jacques Jr. was taken to the Multi-County Jail in Marion and is being held pending charges.
A juvenile male was also taken into custody and is being held at Marysville Juvenile Detention Center.
Additional units from Hardin County Sheriff’s Office as well as KPD’s K-9 unit and a K-9 Unit from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist in the situation.
