Earl C. Morris, age 87 of Kenton

Earl C. Morris, age 87 of Kenton, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born June 8, 1938, in Richwood, Ohio to the late Bert and Hazell (Simpson) Morris. He married Donna (Spearman) Morris on June 15, 1960, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 15, 2025, and she survives.

Left to cherish his memory include daughters: Melanie (Dick) Hastings of Kenton, Melinda Morris of Kenton; siblings: Denny (Joan) Morris of Illinois, Pat (Russ) Manns of North Carolina, Sherrie (Dave) Good of Piqua, Jeri Lynne (Jim, dec.) Hites of Kenton; grandchildren: Eric Hastings and Tyler Hastings, both of Kenton; and great grandchildren: Felix Hastings and Kinzley “KK” Hastings, both of Kenton; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; special neighbors Jeff and Donna Morrison. He was preceded in death by brothers: Bob (Ann, surviving in Mount Victory) Morris, Gene (Laurabelle) Morris, Jim (Ethel, surviving in Indiana) Morris; sisters:  Betty (Harry) Cellar, Nellie (Bill) Ochier, and Noni Morris.

Earl joined the Ohio National Guard in October 1954 and was part of Company E 148th Infantry. He then transferred to the United States Army, 3rd Middle Battalion in 1962 and served his country until his honorable discharge from service. After his military service, Earl worked for Durez Corp. in Kenton for many years.

He was a member of the Church of Christ “Vocal” for many years. He was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams included the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Redwings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Kenton Wildcats Football team. He enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting, and reading fiction and history novels.

He liked to socialize and participate in the community, making daily trips to Walmart, ordering a large, black coffee from McDonalds, and going to breakfast with his friends at Midway. He loved going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and was a kind-hearted person whom children often gravitated towards. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

The Morris family would like to thank Vancrest of Ada, Lima Memorial ICU and 2nd Floor Staff, and Bridge Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Kenton, with calling hours 1 hour prior from 10-11am.

Interment service will be held at the Grove Cemetery committal building with military honors to follow. 

Visitation will  be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice from the following: France Lake Saulisberry Quarry, Kenton Library, Church of Christ “Vocal”, or Bridge Hospice.
