The month of July is National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol released some steps you can take to avoid being a victim when purchasing a vehicle.
Be cautious of prices that seem far below the vehicle’s market value, ask questions about the vehicle’s crash and ownership history, when possible, complete the transaction at a title office and always verify information through reliable sources at the title local title office.
Those steps will help keep you from letting a good deal turn into a costly mistake.
You can report suspected vehicle title fraud or theft for Ohio title vehicles at statepatrol.ohio.gov.
