In Loving Memory of Emma Beckwith Carpenter

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Emma “Becky” Beckwith Carpenter who passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 84.

She lived a full and beautiful life marked by joy, curiosity, and an unwavering love for her family. A lifelong learner and passionate educator, she graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1958 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University in 1962, where she was a proud member of Chi Omega sorority. She was also a member of the Junior League. She devoted 24 years to teaching in the Marion City Schools, where she impacted the lives of countless students with kindness, warmth, and dedication.

She married her high school sweetheart, Edward Carpenter, in 1963. Together, they built a loving family grounded in laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Carpenter; her children, Kristen Carpenter
and her husband, Bill Hudson, of Colorado, and Bill Carpenter and his wife, Meredith Gruber, of North Carolina; her beloved grandchildren, Jacob Hudson, Clare Hudson, Emma Carpenter, and Eve Carpenter; and her uncle, Gene Johnson, of Florida.

Her life was rich with passions and pursuits—she loved sailing, shelling on the beach, boating adventures from Canada to Florida and the Bahamas, and motorcycle trips with her beloved Ed. A devoted gardener, she found joy in nurturing flowers and vegetables
and delight in watching birds and wildlife. Her love for dogs and the natural world was matched only by her love for books, often getting lost for hours in her latest read.

We will forever remember her warmth, her laughter, her curiosity, and the fierce love she had for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and deep devotion.

A celebration of her life will be held on July 19th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Don Tomasso’s.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Upper Sandusky Community Library in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351 or Johann Fust Library of Boca Grade at Donate – Johann Fust
Library Foundation, Inc.
