Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) Celebrates Elite Caliber Competition with National Championship Weekend

The WFA was founded and began in 2009 by now commissioner Lisa King and her husband, but in
In just 17 years, it has grown to the largest women’s tackle football league in the world.
The WFA is now comprised of Division III, II, and Pro levels, along with flag football, an international
presence, and WFA Futures, focused on growing the game for the next generation.

The WFA was the first women’s football league to play a National Championship in an NFL stadium, first
league to secure a multi-year television network deal with ESPN, first league to have MVP jerseys
displayed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the first women’s league to partner with the NFL Alumni.

In addition, over 30 veteran WFA players have earned coaching and scouting positions in the NFL
including Katie Sowers (San Francisco 49ers), the first female to coach in a Super Bowl, and Jennifer
King (Washington Redskins), the first female African American coach in the NFL.

The WFA National Championship weekend on July 25 and July 26 will feature a flag
football tournament and championship, Division II, III, and Pro National Championships, WFA All
American game, WFA Futures camp, and the league’s first ever FanFest.

The 2025 WFA National Championship weekend starts off with opening rounds of flag football
competition on Friday, July 25 at 8, 9, and 10:30 am EST at Forever Lawn Sports Complex. The
opening flag football games will be followed by the WFA Futures camp, open to all girls age 5-18 for
free from 11am-1pm at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Division III National Championship game will take place on Friday, July 25 at 2:30 pm at Tom
Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and air on All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) followed directly by
the Division II National Championship at 6:30 pm airing on the same network.

On Saturday, July 26, the flag football semi-finals and finals will be played at 9 and 11 am at Tom
Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. In the afternoon, at 2 pm, the WFA Pro National Champion will be
crowned on ESPN2 followed by the All-American game at 6 pm on AWSN.

To celebrate the exciting year, players, coaches, and fans, the WFA is presenting its first ever
FanFest on Saturday in between the WFA Pro and All-American game (4-6 pm) featuring fun games,
opportunities for fans to test their football skills, and family-friendly activities.
