Daniel Shelton, president of HazMat Resources, was the recent guest of Rotarian, Kirk Shepherd.
Shelton has dedicated his career to protecting people and liquid cargo as it is transported across the nation.
He has been involved in the transportation and logistics field for over forty-five years, focusing on air and highway transportation.
Shelton spent 17 years with the Department of Transportation where he served as national hazmat cargo tank program manager.
In his current role he serves as an expert consultant for all rules pertaining to and regulation of transport of hazardous materials.
Mr. Shelton explained that at certain points in the transport and transfer of hazardous materials, different regulatory bodies have authority or differing interpretations of the laws established by higher levels of government. This can often be confusing, as the laws are created by legislation, but interpretations evolve through court cases.
