
Vernon Lee Evans Jr., 74, of Kenton, passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born December 13, 1950 in Marion, Ohio to Vernon L. Evans Sr. and Emma Gertrude (Jeffers) Evans, and they preceded him in death.
Vernon was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served his country from 1967-1971 during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from service in 1971. Vernon was employed at Cooper Tires for 30 years, then retired. Vernon enjoyed many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and boating. He enjoyed the peaceful front yard of Jennifer’s home, where he attended many holidays and cookouts.
Vernon is survived by his children: Jennifer (Adam) Woodgeard of Somerset, Shawn (Erin) Short of Heath, Matthew (Andrea) Jolliff of Benton, KY, Michael (Amber) Evans of Sycamore, and Cassandra Evans of Carey; brothers: James Stacey (Elaine) Evans of Marion, Jeffrey Kyle Evans of Delaware. Vernon adored his grandchildren: Brittany Ford, Katilyn (Billy) Barker, Abigail (Isaac) LaPat, Kenneth Short, Elijah, Niccolas, Scarlett Evans, Ezra Evans, and Avery Coles. He also adored his great grandchildren: Sherman, Leona Barker, Ashlynn Ford, Zion, Adam, Aurora LaPat, Cambria, Rodaio Coles. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Jolliff.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1pm – 5pm in Marion at Dayspring Wesleyan Church in the fireside room, 2431 Marion Mt. Gilead Rd.
