Obituary for Nicholas K. Thiel

Nicholas Kevin Thiel age 45 of Forest, passed away Fri. Aug. 22, 2025 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, in Findlay following a three year battle with cancer. He was born in Findlay on Mar. 7, 1980 to Kevin and Sharon (Frater) Thiel.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Norman Thiel and Donna Rowe, maternal grandparents Charles and Ruth Frater. Also preceding him in death was his nephew, Sabastian Farthing. He is survived by his parents, brother Jeremiah Thiel and a sister Melinda (Jesse) Himes, nieces Lariah (Gabriel) Bahala and Alexis Farthing, a nephew Zack Himes and great-nephews Jackson and Luca Bahala.

Nick tirelessly dedicated eleven years of his life in Michigan to help those with drug addiction problems, often working 12-16 hours a day, seven days a week.

Nick was a complex individual who lived life on his own terms. He was described as “walking to the beat of his own drum” and was often the life of the party. He loved riding his Harley and just cruising around. He was an avid dirt bike and NASCAR enthusiast.

It was Nick’s wish to be cremated. He was a very private person and did not want any service. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
