Manufacturing Month is officially underway in Hardin County, highlighting the significant role the industry plays in our local economy.

National Manufacturing Day, celebrated on the first Friday in October, recognizes manufacturing’s immense contribution to creating essential products and jobs. In Hardin County, manufacturing is a critical sector, employing over 15% of our workforce, nearly double the national average of 8%.

To connect local talent with these promising opportunities, the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, local schools, and manufacturers are co-hosting a special Manufacturing Day event. On October 3rd, 25-30 juniors and seniors from each,  Ada, Ohio Hi-Point, Kenton, Ridgemont, and Upper Scioto Valley Schools will gain invaluable, firsthand exposure to modern manufacturing.

Students will visit leading local businesses, including Ada Technologies, Graphic Packaging, McCullough Industries, Precision Strip, and Wilson Sporting Goods. The event’s core goal is to challenge outdated factory stereotypes, showcasing manufacturers as high-tech, clean, and innovative workplaces. This in-person experience is vital for students to fully appreciate the positive products, careers, and overall impact our growing local manufacturing base provides.

The Midwest Regional Educational Service Center organizes the event in conjunction with the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance.  This experience for our future workforce is not possible without the participation of the local Industries.
