United Way of Hardin County Executive Director Martha Evans-Nau was featured in a panel discussion at the Ohio State House Tuesday.

She spoke about how Hardin County utilizes the ALICE report to guide decision making throughout the county.

For a growing number of U.S. households, financial stability remains out of reach despite steady employment. Known as ALICE—Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed—these families earn above the federal poverty level but still struggle to cover basic living expenses.

The event brought together leaders from both urban and rural regions to discuss challenges and potential solutions for ALICE households.

It featured a panel focused on partnerships involving business and legislative leaders.

While the discussion addressed ALICE households generally, it considered how different sectors could work together to improve stability for working families.

The discussion’s relevance to rural initiatives stems from the summit’s explicit goal of including leaders from rural areas in its conversations.
