Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser made several big announcements at Monday night’s Kenton City Council meeting.
He started by announcing a grant in partnership with the Kenton City schools in the amount of around $85,000. “That is going to cover about two years of appropriations I would have asked for otherwise with new radios, body cameras, thermal imaging scopes, night vision, quite a lot, so it’s a big deal,” Chief Musser said.

He credited the school district’s Director of Communication Kolt Buchenroth for all he does for KPD, “Our transition to the new school and security. He’s a huge asset in terms of tech support as well, so I want to give Kolt some props there.”
Chief Musser also introduced a new officer, who will start on the force December 22. Ryan Hardy has around 5 years’ experience in law enforcement and last worked at the Carey Police Department. He told council members, “I look forward to meeting all of you, and get to know all of you, obviously to get to know the City of Kenton.”

Last but not least, Chief Musser announced the promotion of Dillion Carter to Sergeant, with the ceremony taking place before council members. Though only with KPD for a couple of years, the Chief said the now Sgt. Carter has a lot of experience, “He came to us after 10 years in the military, a tour to Afghanistan. He’s just a well-rounded individual, so I’m excited for him to get this promotion.”
