Dwight E. Hassan, 84, of Ada, passed away after a brief illness at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on December 26, 2025. Born April 27, 1941, at the family home in Ada, Dwight was a graduate of Hardin Northern High School in Dola, served in the U.S. Army Reserve, worked as a welder, and was a lifelong farmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Jodi, and by Brice Armentrout, whom Dwight took under his wing serving as a grandfather figure, along with extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella Joyce (Schick) Hassan; his parents, Lawrence and Catherine Hassan; and his sister, Emma Jean (Hassan) Gillfillan.
Dwight loved his tractors. He enjoyed tractor shows, parades, and events, and every tractor he displayed was beautifully restored by his own hands. He especially cherished the annual Mackinaw Bridge Tractor Crossing, a true highlight of his life. Another tractor adventure that stayed close to his heart was a trip to Florida with nephew Doug for the Florida Flywheelers Tractor Show-his favorite part being the daily tractor parades.
Dwight drove semi for several years and could talk for hours about his travels and adventures.
He took pride in being part of a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest pickup truck parade and treasured the chance to drive on the Indy Speedway for that event.
Dwight was famously ornery and loved quiet pranks-like the Easter egg hunt where he “helped” nephew Joe by holding the basket and sneakily rehiding eggs, leaving Joe delighted… and thoroughly confused.
Dwight never outgrew his sweet tooth; on his last day he requested peanut brittle and happily enjoyed it in his hospital room chair.
