Charles “Charlie” R Mason of Waldo, OH passed away peacefully February 13, 2026, with his loving family at his side. He was born June 18, 1936, to John S Mason and Dorothy P (Young) Mason in Marion, OH. Charlie married Ruth Ann Sisson September 12, 1959; having many happy years together until she passed April 6, 2016.

Charlie proudly served as a Gunners Mate in the United States Navy from June 1954 until December 1962. Two ships he served on were the USS Waccaman and the USS Wasp. Charlie retired from PPG Industries in Delaware June 1998. 

Charlie was a member of American Legion Post 605 and enjoyed socializing there with friends. He had many hobbies: square dancing with his wife Ruth (for many years), woodworking, gardening, grilling, playing golf, and being an avid Ohio State football fan.

Charlie is survived by his daughter Rose (William) Dartt of Bucyrus, son Charles “Beaver” Richard Mason Jr. of Ashley, daughter Pauline “Sue” Mason of Delaware, grandchildren: Zach (Brittany) Beach, Mallory (Josh) Williams, Nicholas Mason, Dustin Mason, Chelsee Mason, Christopher Bloomfield, Amber Adkins, Jeremie Adkins, and Mark Dennison, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Beagle Winston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, cherished Aunt Rosie and Uncle Floyd Young, and siblings: John Mason, Jeanette Johnson, Dixie Firstenberger, JoAnn Millietiera, and Bonnie LaMarr.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life February 22, 2026, at American Legion Post 605 (367 W Main St. Waldo, OH 43356) from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Christmas Account of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 605.
