COLUMBUS, Ohio — About 10 members of the Ohio Army National Guard’s 196th Public Affairs Detachment (Mobile), based in Columbus, are deploying to the U.S. European Command area of responsibility in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
A ceremony honoring the Soldiers is scheduled for 1 p.m., on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Maj. Gen. Robert W. Teater Readiness Center on Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, 7370 Minuteman Way, Building 950, Columbus, OH 43217.
While deployed, the unit will provide direct public affairs support and supervision of public affairs operations. Army Public Affairs personnel act as liaisons with news media, create content (photos, stories, videos), manage social media, advise military commanders on communication strategies, and foster community relations to inform both internal and public audiences.
The unit’s previous deployments include Iraq, in 2004-05 and 2010-11, and Europe, in 2021-2022.
