Mary Estella Rayl passed away with family by her side on May 3, 2026, after a brief hospitalization.
Mary was born to the late Charles Manhart and Laura (Stuber) Manhart on April 8, 1940. She graduated from Kenton High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Clair D. Rayl, on May 31, 1958, at the First Methodist Church by Reverend Shoemaker. Together they had three children: a son, David (Shawne) Rayl of Marion, and two daughters, Melody (Dana) Rayl of Olathe, Kansas, and Letitia Rayl of Marysville. Mary is also survived by four grandchildren: Charsey Rayl Johnson, Jordan (Kassidy) Spoor, Brennan Spoor and Morgan (Kameron) Kraus. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clair Rayl, and a grandson, Dalton Rayl Johnson.
Mary was a lifelong community volunteer and a loving grandmother. She devoted countless hours to the many causes she supported and never hesitated to volunteer her time and energy to her family, friends, community and church. She enjoyed gardening, art, and the years spent with Clair on their small farm in Richwood, Ohio, and traveling across the country in their camper van. In her later years, she enjoyed spoiling her adopted pup, Molly, her loyal and constant companion.
There will be no services for Mary. Following in Clair’s footsteps, she generously donated her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where her granddaughter, Charsey Rayl Johnson, recently graduated from medical school.
Memorial donations in Mary’s honor may be made to First Christian Church of Kenton, Ohio, or Universal Hospice in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
