Many residents may focus on gardening, building a deck, planting a tree or changing out a mailbox soon, especially over the upcoming long Memorial Day weekend, and Enbridge Gas is offering tips for safe digging.

Gas lines and other utilities aren’t always obvious and it’s easy to mistakenly hit a natural gas line while digging outside without a location.

Regardless of how big or small a project is, homeowners can request utility locations through Ohio 811. State law requires a call to 811 – and it’s FAST and FREE. Residents are required to have underground utility lines marked, at least two business days, but no more than 10 business days, prior to ANY digging project.

Residents can submit an underground utility marking request by:

  • Dialing 811, a toll-free number.
  • Visiting Ohio811 to submit a single address ticket.
  • Using the Ohio811 app from their mobile phone.
