Obituary for Karen P. Moffitt

Karen P. Moffitt, 79, of Dublin, OH, passed away on June 25, 2026. She was born on July 24, 1946, in Byhalia, OH, to Robert E. and Azile Phillips.

Karen will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Paul E. Moffitt; sisters, Cindie L. (Mark) Gibson and Sharen Geutreuter; sons, Michael E. (Kimberly M. Dillon) Moffitt and Robert B. (Krystyna) Moffitt and daughter-in-law Karlyn J. Geis; granddaughters, Estelle E. Geis-Moffitt, Sydney G., Natalie R., and Logan O. Moffitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Azile Phillips and son, Matthew P. Moffitt.

Karen was a graduate of Ridgemont High School (64) and The Ohio State University (Home Economics, 70). She married Paul E Moffitt on June 15, 1966 at the Mt. Victory United Methodist Church and spent nearly 20 years as a stay-at-home mother focused on raising her three sons. She then began teaching at Franklin Monroe Elementary School and completed her Master’s in Education at the University of Dayton (92).

Karen was a Reading Specialist / Reading Recovery Teacher helping improve the reading and comprehension capabilities of so many young students for 22 years. Her Christian faith was central to her life, and she was most recently a member of the Amlin United Methodist Church. She loved OSU football, cooking fantastic meals, gardening, and splitting her time between Ohio and Sarasota, FL. She and Paul wintered in Florida for many years following retirement enjoying the warmer weather, local restaurants, and pool time.

Karen was a loving, supportive and eternally kind wife, mother and grandmother. She raised three strong men and loved watching her granddaughters grow into avid readers and horse riders. She often recounted her childhood love of her horse, Rocky.

A celebration of life for Karen will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 2:00pm at the West Mansfield Methodist Church at 212 E Center St., West Mansfield, OH 43358. Please join us after for some fellowship and socializing.
