Obituary for Gary Lowell Scott

Gary Lowell Scott, 85, passed away July 7, 2026, and, as a man of faith, was reunited with his wife in heaven.

Gary was born March 15, 1941, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Elwood and Mabel Scott. He married the late Glenda Scott and had three children, David (Missy) Scott, Bradley Scott, and Melissa (Ron) Rofe.

Along with his children, he is survived by his grandchildren Dustin Scott, Justin Scott, Morgan (James) Massara, Shane (Kelsey) Rofe, and Laura (Garrett) Ray. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Eric Rofe, MaKenzie Rofe, Dimitri Rofe, Alice Massara, William Massara, Brody Rofe, Claire Dardio, Dixon Dardio, Remi Ray, River Ray, Domenic Ditto, Kaylee Scott, and Benjamin Scott. He is also survived by his brother, Warren Scott.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda; daughter-in-law, Peggy Scott; grandson, Nathan Rofe; and granddaughter, Shannon Ditto.

Working a variety of maintenance and skilled labor jobs, Gary spent over 40 years as a welder and inspector for Rockwell, which later became Meritor. He also farmed for much of his life.

He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Gary enjoyed spending time with family, restoring antique Massey-Harris tractors, and watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Visitation is Monday, July 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home in Kenton, and funeral services are Tuesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by graveside services at the McDonald Fairview Cemetery.
