The City of Kenton, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is proposing a roadway reconstruction project in the City of Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio. The project will reconstruct Detroit Street from the W Eliza Street intersection to the northern corporate limits of the City of Kenton.
Specific roadway and drainage improvements proposed along this section of Detroit Street include:
Temporary right-of-way will be required to complete this work. Construction is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2028 and be completed in the Fall of 2028. The project is estimated to cost approximately $4.3 million, using federal and local funds. This estimate will be refined as project development continues.
A detour will be required for this project to be completed. U.S. Route 68 will be closed for a maximum of 190 days. The designated detour will route through traffic via Main Street in the City of Kenton, to State Route 53, to State Route 81, and vice versa. Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.
To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, The City of Kenton is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include those associated with archaeological and ecological resources, hazardous materials, maintenance of traffic, and general concerns you may have with the project.
Please provide comments or concerns you may have by October 4, 2026, to the contact information below.
