William P. Dickey
December 12, 1941 – October 8, 2026

William P. Dickey, age 84, of Upper Sandusky, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026. He was born December 12, 1941, in Marion, Ohio, to Donald L. Dickey and Anna C. (Laudenslager) May.

Bill married Patricia L. Minor on January 13, 1968, and together they shared 58 years of marriage. Patricia survives in Upper Sandusky. He is also survived by his two sons, William “Billy” (Rachel) Dickey II and Scott (Jessica) Dickey, both of Upper Sandusky; two grandchildren, Michael William and Sloane Josephine Dickey; siblings, Dorothy Blackburn of Upper Sandusky, Sharon McNeil of Bucyrus, Carol Gardner of Cardington, Leanne Dickey of Fostoria, and Ronald (Rita) May of California; brothers-in-law, Michael Minor and Curtis (Amy) Minor; and sister-in-law, Sandy (Rodney) Zehfus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Douglas May.

Bill was a graduate of Salem High School and proudly served his country in the Ohio National Guard with HHC, 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry, based in Findlay. He was a member of North Salem Lutheran Church. Bill was a member of the Upper Sandusky Elks Lodge BPOE #83 and a member of the former AMVETS.

A talented mechanic with a passion for anything with a motor, Bill began his career working at Lee’s Trading Post. His mechanical abilities and entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to purchase the marine division of the business and establish Bill’s Marine in 1969. Through his business, he sold and serviced Starcraft boats and Mercury outboard motors, along with Rupp minibikes and Rupp and Arctic Cat snowmobiles.

For Bill, working with engines was much more than a livelihood; it was something he genuinely loved. Whether repairing a motor, troubleshooting a mechanical problem, or working on his next project, he took great pride in his work and the knowledge he had gained over the years. Away from his business, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, Indy car and NASCAR racing, although his love for working on anything mechanical was never far from his mind. He enjoyed being around lifelong friends and their families. In later years he enjoyed his golf cart and being around his grandchildren as much as possible.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bringman Clark Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Tanyce Addison officiating. Afterwards, there will be a celebration of life gathering at the Alibi Room for friends and family to gather and celebrate Bill and all that was his life.
