Hardin County – Ohio State University Extension invites area farm families to attend the “Planning for the Future of Your Farm” Workshop, a two-session educational program designed to guide families through the process of transitioning farm ownership, management, and assets to the next generation.

The workshop will take place on January 19 and January 26, 2027, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 950 West Kohler Street, Kenton, OH 43326.

Transitioning a family farm involves navigating complex legal, financial, and interpersonal challenges. Featured speakers for the workshop include David Marrison, OSU Field Specialist in Farm Management, and Robert Moore, Attorney with the Agriculture and Resource Law Program. • Developing legacy goals and preparing the next generation to manage the farm
  • Overcoming family communication issues and managing conflict
  • Navigating legal tools, strategies, wills, and trusts
  • Valuing sweat equity and protecting assets against estate taxes or long-term care costs
  • Assembling a professional team, selecting an attorney, and getting affairs in order
