The annual appropriations ordinance was introduced when Kenton City Council convened for their 22nd regular session Monday evening. The budget includes $11,916,002 in total appropriations as well as transfers amounting to $453,880 bringing the grand total to $12,369,882. Council President Joel Althauser would mention this is not the full budget as it only accounts for expenses. The ordinance will receive a second read when council meets again December 13th.

Later in the meeting county commissioner Tim Striker would address council with an update on plans for disbursement of American Rescue Plan funds which includes an effort to expand the county’s access to broadband internet. Striker would also mention the county is already preparing for the 2024 solar eclipse as Hardin County will be a prime location for viewing. A similar sized county saw up to 50,000 stargazers visit during a previous eclipse.
