Food Vehicle, which is an old school bus converted to the summer feeding program’s primary mode of transportation. The vehicle will be on display at lunch sites across the community this summer.
Kenton, OH – As part of its efforts to ensure kids have access to healthy meals during the summer months, Kenton City Schools is pleased to announce its summer meals site will be serving kids and teens.
Starting on June 5th, all kids and teens 18 and under can receive meals free of charge, no registration needed, until July 21st, 2023.
“The summer feeding program makes sure our students are well-nourished throughout the summer so they are ready to return to school this fall and learn,” said Superintendent Chad Thrush.
Families with students under 18 years of age may eat in-person Monday through Thursday from 11 to 11:30 am at the Kenton High School Cafeteria or Noon – 12:30 pm at the Mary Lou Johnson Library.
Families also have the option to pick up five days’ worth of breakfast and lunch on Mondays from 9:00 – 9:30 at the Hardin County Family YMCA, from 10:00 – 10:30 am at Scioto Village, from 11:00 – 11:30 at Kenton Middle School, and from 11:00 – Noon at Kenton Elementary School. This multi-day, pick up meal option is new this summer as the USDA is committed to helping summer programs reach more rural families in our communities.
The Summer Meals program is funded by the USDA and run by school districts and local organizations, and sites can be found throughout the community. We’re always happy to see you at your site, but there may be more convenient locations closer to you. Families can text “FOOD” to 304-304 and type in a zip code to find nearby summer meal sites, along with operating days and times. No application, registration, or proof of residency or citizenship is required at sites.
