Graveside services for James E. Rhoades will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at Grove Cemetery in the Committal Building. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
James passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton. He was born on September 23, 1940 in Kenton to the late E.J. and Lucille (Kruse) Rhoades. In 1962 he married Nina Shepherd and they later divorced. In 1993 he married Beverly Mabrey and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children; Tony (Bobbi) Rhoades of Forest, Todd (Nicole) Rhoades of Sacramento, California, Cheryl (Scott) Sorgen of Kenton, step-children; Tim Mabrey, Pam (Mabrey) Lightner, grandchildren; Wade (Andi) Rhoades of Florida, Dylan Rhoades of Sacramento, California, Haley (Dustin) Thompson of Kenton, great-grandchild, Connor Thompson of Kenton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry L. Rhoades, sister, JoJean Emans and step-daughter, Laura Mabrey.
Jim enjoyed watching Nascar, especially the DuPont Chevrolet and also enjoyed watching Tom Brady play football. In his free time, James enjoyed helping the Lowe boys with their truck pulls.
Memorial contributions in James’s honor may be made to the Hardin Hills Activity Fund.
