Paul W. Amos age 89 of Upper Sandusky, passed away at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab on September 14, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Vinton, OH to the late Henry and Alice (McFarland) Amos on June 17, 1934. Paul married RoseMarie Martig on July 5, 1958, she survives.
He is also survived by his children Linda (Greg) Wolf, Auburn, IN, and Jeff (Deb) Amos, Upper Sandusky, grandchildren Nathan Wolf, Breanna (Aaron) Orwig, and Jaime (Ross) DeMuth and great grandchildren Tymon Orwig, Evelynn Orwig, Kennerly DeMuth and Carson DeMuth. Paul is preceded in death by a great grandchild Blaine Orwig and brother Arthur Amos.
He was a 1952 Upper Sandusky High School graduate and was a faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where he attended services regularly and was the former Sunday School Treasurer. Paul worked for North Electric as an installer and technician and retired from the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Upper Sandusky after 25 years. Paul assisted his son in anyway he could at the A&A Grocery store. He was a handy man and fixed many things. Paul was an avid bowler and golfer, he enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, watching OSU football, and mowing the lawn in his unique checkerboard pattern. Paul could be seen cruising the town in his white Cobra Mustang car. His favorite song was Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof. Most important to Paul was spending time with family and friends.
Paul was truly a loyal American citizen honoring the American flag and serving in the US Army between 1956-1958. He was a lifetime member of the Elks BPOE #83 serving for 44 years as lodge secretary, along with being a member of the Amvets 777, and American Legion Post #225. Paul was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive and the Christmas Upper Fantasy of Lights.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky with Pastor Barry Halter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Bringman Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday September 19, 2023 from 4-7:30pm and Wednesday September 20, 2023 from 10-11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Elks Memorial Service will be held at 7:30pm Tuesday September 19, 2023 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot Memorial Hospital, St. Paul Lutheran Church, or charity of donors choice in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E.
