The Lima Police Department recently celebrated officers and new K9 partners who completed 6 weeks of K9 training. During the 6 week training, the teams learned how to work together and create a strong bond with their partners.
Sgt Torres and K9 Nado, along with K9 Axe and Ptl Wireman will begin their time as a patrol K-9 unit.
Ptl Osting and her K9 partner Myla, who is not only a narcotics detection dog, will also serve as the Lima Police Department’s first therapy dog for their officers and the Lima community.
K9 Myla will be used in times of officer distress due to any hardships with their job. K9 Myla will also be used to help give victims a voice, whether on the stand testifying or standing by while victims are making a difficult report.
