Lima Police Officer Honored with Medical Run of the Year Award for Saving Infant Exposed to Fentanyl

A Lima Police officer was recognized this week with the Medical Run of the Year Award by Lima Memorial Hospital.

Ptl. Logan Schick responded to a call of a small infant who was unresponsive due to being exposed to fentanyl.

His quick realization about what was occurring and his swift actions helped save the child’s life.

Ptl. Schick was nominated by members of the Lima Fire Department for the award.

According to America’s Poison Center, calls to poison centers for illicit fentanyl exposures in kids under 6 years old increased from 10 cases in 2016 to 539 in 2023 which is a  a 5,290% increase since 2016.
