Lorenzo “Ren” L. Kalb, 69, fell asleep in death on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Cleveland Clinic after a courageous battle against cancer.
Ren was born on March 8, 1955 to Perry “Gene” and Myrtle (Unkert) Kalb, who preceded him in death. In the early 1970’s he met a young woman named Alyce Shannon and became part of her circle of friends. One day they happened to be listening to a song with romantic lyrics. Ren realized he wanted to have that kind of love with someone, and he wanted it to be with Alyce. They were married on August 17, 1974. Sadly, Alyce passed away in 2017.
Ren and Alyce expanded their family in 1975 with their first child, Danielle. Fifteen months later they welcomed Christopher. They were a family of four until ten years later in 1986 when Angela came along. The biggest surprise was seven years later in 1993 when they had Hannah. Their family of six was now complete. Danielle and her husband Randolph reside in Bellefontaine, Christopher and his wife Melissa reside in Kenton, Angela and her husband Richard reside in Sioux Falls, SD, and Hannah and Ren’s faithful sidekick Benny the schnauzer reside in Kenton. Ren is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
On June 2, 1984 Ren was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which became the focal point of his life. Ren and Alyce raised their four children to love Jehovah God and the hope for the future found in the Bible. Our family eagerly awaits the fulfillment of Revelation 21:4, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
A memorial service will be held at the Kenton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 3:00pm.
