Before council met, a public hearing was held for the petition from Kenton City Schools to change a section of Silver Street to Wildcat Way. As previously noted the name change would not impact any residencies as it will only be the section of Silver starting at the school until Morningside Drive. Legislation for this name change will be at the next council meeting.

During the meeting another public hearing was scheduled for the potential rezoning of county owned property from R1 (one and two family residential) to M2 (general manufacturing). The parcel numbers are 36-8100130000, 36-8100120000, and 36-8100110000. The hearing will be held August 12th at 6pm.

Legislation for the much discussed roundabout was put forth during this meeting. Councilman Chad Miller motioned to have the three read rule suspended for the ordinance number 24-013. The motion was seconded by Robin Jones but was eventually voted down with a vote of 2-5 after Dave Beazley, Steve Walter, Pegg Wren, Anda tudor, and Sue Fox Buroker voted against the effort and thus allowing the public to voice any concerns over this major project.

The next meeting of Kenton City Council is set for July 8th at 7pm.
