The Indian Lake Chamber announced that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Police Department, and the Russells Point Police Department will be combining efforts throughout the Indian Lake Region for traffic control following the 2024 Indian Lake Fireworks this Saturday, July 6.
The launch site will remain at the South Bank of Indian Lake between Township Road 239 and the west corporation limit of the Village of Russells Point.
The site will include the midway parking lot on State Route 366, including ODNR Property and the Bike path East to Paradise Point.
Accordingly, specific changes had to be made to allow for safety and security of the launch site.
There is also a Severe Weather Response Plan in place.
When a report of severe weather approaching Indian Lake is forecasted, Incident Command will begin monitoring and observing local weather patterns.
If the storm indicates a track with Indian Lake in the path all incident command staff and team leaders will be notified, and they will work in conjunction with all partners to make a final safety decision one hour before the fireworks are launched.
The one-hour response time will be required to allow enough time for traffic to move to a safe location.
