According to a release from the Lima Police Department, yesterday evening at about 6:00 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to 443 Orena, in reference to domestic violence incident.
When officers arrived they spoke to the victim, a 30 year old female from Lima. She advised she was assaulted by strangulation, by 32 year old Jordan Jennings, also of Lima, inside 443 Orena Ave.
Officers attempted to make contact with the occupants of the residence, however no one would come to the door. It was confirmed that Jennings was inside of his mother’s residence, which was also occupied by his uncle and two young children.
Lima Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, created a perimeter around the residence.
LPD officers began giving verbal commands over a police cruiser’s PA system, calling for the occupants to come out of the house, specifically Jordan Jennings. After about 20 minutes, detectives, and the Lima Police Department’s SWAT and HNT teams were called to respond.
The stand-off lasted for well over an hour before his uncle and the two children came out of the residence, while Jordan Jennings remained barricaded inside.
When efforts to make contact with Mr. Jennings failed, and almost three hours had passed, chemical agents were deployed into the residence.
As a result, Mr. Jennings came out of the house and was taken into custody without further incident. Jordan Jennings was transported to the Allen County Jail and held on suspicion of strangulation and an active outstanding warrant through the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.
