The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lateral Cadet Program is seeking new applicants. This program allows law enforcement officers who have had an Ohio Basic Police Officer certification for at least two years, to engage in a condensed academy training of approximately 12 weeks.
If you would like to become a trooper, you can get paid training and earn up to $31.19 an hour after graduation.
There have also been new changes to the application process that includes an age requirement from 20 years to 39 years old and a uniform policy that now allows tattoos that can be covered.
Lateral Cadets must have current Ohio Basic Police Officer certification with at least two years of full-time experience and agree to a placement at a post within 50 miles of your residence after graduation.
