Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Jack Marchbanks today announced that ODOT will award a total of $15 million in grant funding to support roadway safety improvements and improved road signage in several local cities and townships.
“The safety of those who travel on Ohio’s roadways will always be a top priority,” said Governor DeWine. “Whether it’s upgrading a major thoroughfare or installing better signage along a small township road, the projects we’re supporting will help local governments maintain and improve the streets their citizens drive on each day.”
The City of Kenton has received a two million dollar grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The money will used for a 2028 reconstruction project of Detroit Street from Eliza to the north corporation limit.
The project will include curb ramps, storm sewer improvements, and waterline replacement.
ODOT is awarding the funding as part of its Small City Grant Program.
In our region, it includes 1.3 million dollars to the City of Upper Sandusky for a 2028 road construction project on East Wyandot Avenue from 4th Street to just east of County Road 121.
ODOT also awarded just over $845,000 for 38 roadway signage projects in local townships in 30 counties around the state.
The program provides funding for signs, posts, and hardware for signs along township-maintained roads.
In Hardin County, Pleasant Township was awarded just under $2000.
