Mariann Marcella Royer, age 92, of Roundhead, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on May 18, 1932, in Hardin County, Ohio to Marce and Mildred (Shirack) Wienken. On October 13, 1951, Mariann married Eugene Royer and he survives in Roundhead.
Also surviving are her three children: Julie Collins of Lima, Rick (Brenda) Royer and Sally (Gary) Newfer of Roundhead; daughter-in-law, Kristi Royer of Roundhead; eight grandchildren: Paige Collins, Spencer Collins, Garrett Royer, Willow Lowery, Noah Lowery, Bri (Wayne) Viera, Shawn DeLong and Caleb DeLong; and four great grandchildren.
Mariann was preceded in death by her son, Larry Royer; and two grandchildren: Kristi Newfer and John Newfer.
Mariann taught school at Waynesfield and retired from Upper Scioto Valley Schools. She was “everyone’s favorite 3rd grade teacher” and taught elementary school for twenty years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mariann was a member and past president of the Ohio Cattle Women’s Association, the Hardin County Cattle Producers, the Ohio Farm Bureau, the Moonlighters Homemakers Club and the Deep Roots Garden Club. Mariann also served as a member and president for the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce. She was a past volunteer of the USV Ambulance Service and served as an election poll worker for many years.
Graveside services will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at McDonald-Fairview Cemetery, Kenton with David Holbrook officiating.
