Pleasant Township Trustees have provided an update on the Mausoleum Project at Grove Cemetery in Kenton.

Activity outside the mausoleum has begun.

Vaults, flags, pins and large equipment are at the site.

The goal is to exhume the interred within the mausoleum for individual reburial in front of the structure.

The burial process will take place starting Monday, October 7, and the completion date is October 23.

Trustees have stated that the process is being undertaken with the utmost respect for the deceased and their families.

They stated that the team is committed to ensuring that reburial is conducted with the highest level of dignity and that all affected parties have been informed with compassion and sensitivity.

Once the mausoleum is vacated, Pleasant Township will take the initiative to raze the building, paving the way for the restoration of the area into green space.

This comprehensive plan will culminate in the transfer of the entire property from Pleasant Township to Grove Cemetery, ensuring its long-term preservation and maintenance.

Those involved on the mausoleum team include Pleasant Township Trustees, Grove Cemetery Board Members and Employees, Hardin County Commissioners, Hardin County Engineer’s Office, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Kenton Police Department, Price McEolry Funeral Home and Kenton Marble and Granite.
