Kenton City Council took care of a light agenda at Monday night’s meeting.

During the 20th regular session of the year, Safety Service Director Cindy Murray announced the dates for leaf pick up in the city.

She said it starts November 18 in the 4th ward, November 25 in the 3rd ward, December 2 in the 1st ward and December 9 in the 2nd ward.

She reminded residents to only rake the leaves to the grass area of your yards and not into the curb section or the street to keep the storm sewers from getting clogged.

Kenton Mayor Lynn Webb praised the work of the Kenton Fire Department, American Electric Power and all others involved during the fire at the substation just south of Kenton on Friday, October 25.

The fire resulted in a power outage to the entire city that was much shorter in duration than many anticipated.

She said teamwork and great communication from all involved made the situation much better that day.

Two ordinances, one authorizing the safety service director to advertise for rock salt for the public works department, and the other to advertise for bids for materials and supplies for 2024, were read for the third and final time and were passed by a unanimous vote

One resolution authorizing the mayor and/or safety service director to apply to the Ohio Department of Transportation for Transportation Alternatives Program, or TAP, funding was read for the second time and will be on third reading at the next meeting.

That meeting will be on Tuesday November 12 due to Veteran’s Day on November 11.
