Margaret Ann Comer Osbun, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, at the age of 91 in her home, surrounded by all of her children. Born to Garnet Rumer-Comer and Robert Comer Sr. in Kenton, Ohio, Margaret graduated from Kenton High School in 1951.  She married Charles “Gene” Osbun, in 1953, and together they crafted a beautiful life filled with five children:  Brent (deceased), Tony, Julie, Lori & Vic.  Though Margee & Gene  parted ways later in life, her love for her family never wavered.

Margaret’s life was centered on her love for family and her many passions. A talented cook and baker, she was known for creating dishes that were both beautiful and delicious, which led to a successful catering venture. She also enjoyed knitting and playing the piano and organ, filling her home with warmth, music, and love.

Margaret joined the workforce once all of her children were past the primary grades.  Her career included roles at Oxy Chemical Co, Allen Vending, owning a chicken farm, managing the bakery and deli at Weaver’s IGA, owning Kaiser House Bakery & Antiques, serving as a house mother at  Kappa PSI Fraternity at Ohio Northern University, working at Blanchard Place, organist at First Reformed Church, and serving as a private caregiver.

She was an active member of her community, involved in the Beta Rho Sorority, Hardin Northern Garden Club, and a dedicated member of First Methodist Church, where she participated in the FMC Elizabeth Circle and was devoted to her Emmaus Reunion Group, both of which enriched her spiritual journey.

Margaret is lovingly remembered by her children: Tony Osbun (Jill), Julie Taylor-Lowry, Lori Osbun-Ortega, and Vic Osbun. Each day, she was either visited by at least one of her children or shared a heartfelt conversation with them on the phone, reflecting the deep bond they all cherished.  Also important to Margee was the close bond with her brother Bob’s children and their families, finding immense joy in being a part of their lives. She especially shared a deep and lasting friendship with her niece, Garnet Comer-Stalder, with whom she enjoyed countless outings to yard sales, shopping, and treasured time together. One of her proudest moments in recent years was when her great-niece honored her by naming her daughter “Linley Margaret”.

Margaret’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant so much to her:  Taylor Osbun and great-granddaughters Lydia and Emma; Marina (Chris) Ramirez and great-grandsons Elijah and Evan; Chelsea Taylor (Lindsay) and great-grandchildren Paisley, Callie, and Huxon; Ciara Ortega-Anderson (Carl); Thomas Taylor (Abby) and great-granddaughter Mabel; Reagan Ortega-Vill (Armando) and great-grandchildren Rees, Collins, and Lincoln; Victoria Osbun and great-granddaughter Ivy; and Brent Osbun (Kelsey) and great-grandchildren Mariah and Asher.  Margaret effortlessly kept up with all the “grands” growth & activities thanks to her family’s dedication to keeping her digital picture frame updated.

Throughout her life, Margaret encountered a myriad of challenges that could have shattered anyone, yet she met each one with unwavering grace, consistently facing the world with a radiant smile. Margaret will be remembered for her kind heart, her love for family, and her devotion to her church and community. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched, and the many stories she shared.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garnet and Robert Comer, her brother Robert “Bob” Comer, and her sons Brent Eugene Osbun and Bruce Osbun (infant) and her best friend, “Scruffy”.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on  Friday, November 8, 2024 at First Methodist Church in Kenton.  The family will be greeting guests an hour prior to the service (10 a.m.)  in the cookie room, where, in true Margaret fashion, a variety of homemade cookies will be served.
