Positive Peer Advocates members planned and recently held a successful Mindfulness Day at Kenton Middle School.

PPA is a student-led organization that is dedicated to raising mental health awareness and promoting suicide prevention at KMS.

Mindfulness is the practice of focusing your attention on the present moment with an attitude of openness, curiosity, and non-judgment.

It involves being fully aware of your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surroundings, without trying to change or suppress them.

The key aspects of mindfulness include Present-Moment Awareness, Non-Judgmental Observation, Intention and Focus and Breathing and Grounding Techniques.

At the school recently, the students immersed themselves in a variety of mindfulness activities, from mindful eating to dancing, and from walking to volleyball and basketball.

This experience inspired the students to ‘dream big’ and not be afraid to stand out from the crowd to achieve their goals.
