The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for several counties in our region, including Hardin, Marion, Union, Logan, Auglaize, Wyandot, and Hancock Counties. The Extreme Cold Watch is in effect from late Sunday night through Wednesday morning.

An Extreme Cold Watch is issued when dangerously cold air temperatures or wind chill values are possible. Residents in the watch area should adjust their plans to avoid being outside during the coldest parts of the day.

Dangerously cold temperatures, as low as 5 to 10 degrees, with wind chills as low as 15 to 25 degrees below zero, are possible.

An extended period of very cold temperatures could cause water pipes to rupture. To prevent pipes from freezing, wrap, drain, or allow them to drip slowly.
