With great sadness, but with wonderful memories, we say goodbye to our mother and grandmother. Freda R. (Morehart) Browne, age 92, of Upper Sandusky, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.
Born September 28, 1932 to the late Elnora C. (Eckert) and Ralph H. Morehart, she was a 1950 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Dayton. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dr. Joseph J. Browne. They were married June 13, 1953 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his death October 11, 2014. Freda worked as an Obstetrical Nurse at Wyandot Memorial so he was able to attend OSU Medical School.
Her life will continue to be celebrated by her children: Christine M. (Roger) Heider, Bowling Green, Catherine A. (Christopher Gamber) Browne, David J. (Maria) Browne and Carolyn S. (Joseph) Eippert, all of Upper Sandusky, 9 grandchildren: Anita (Matt) Patchett, Matthew (Yael) Gamber, Nicholas Eippert, Anna (Kevin) Birkner, Eric (Lyndsay Gregory) Reichgott, John Reichgott, Ethan (Heather Kocher) Browne, Lauren (Alex) Snavley, Jesse (Dave) Heider-Ayling, and 10 great-grandchildren: Seth and Benjamin Patchett, Kyle Reichgott, Kevin III, Jack, Grace and Eleanora Birkner, James and Ryland Snavley, June Ayling; sister-in-law, Carnetta Morehart and many special nieces and nephews.
Freda brought joy to everyone she met and cherished her longtime friends.
Along with her devoted husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Joseph, Richard, David and Thomas Morehart.
She will be fondly remembered for her beautiful smile, compassion, fierce determination and strong faith. A devoted lifetime member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, Freda was involved in various ministries including the lay ministry and the St. Vincent de Paul Store. Known to keep a rosary in every room, many have benefitted from rosaries prayed on their behalf.
As an avid reader, she was always up to date on current world events and enjoyed many lively debates over breakfasts with grandson, Nick. With her practical approach, she was everyone’s consultant for big and small problems.
Our fondest memories revolve around family: summers at Lake Erie, vacations in our station wagon traveling cross country with mom passing out bologna sandwiches and leading the singing and the many, many Monopoly games played with children and grandchildren. She was quick to laugh and have fun!
Her faith and love of family were always central in her life.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM Friday, February 21, 2025 in Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church with Fr. Savio Manavalan, OFM Conv. and Deacon Kevin Wintersteller officiating. Family will be receiving callers at the church from 9:30AM until the time of the service. Private interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visit www.BringmanClark.com to send a condolence or to share a memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter Catholic Cemetery or Upper Sandusky Community Library in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Avenue, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
We find comfort in knowing mom’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
