Obituary for LaVerna Carol Cowen

LaVerna Carol Cowen, age 82 of Kenton, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 15, 1942 in Kenton to the late Kenneth Harp and Rachel (Treen) Harp. She married John Cowen on May 13, 1958 and he preceded her in death in November of 2020.

She is survived by children: Timothy Cowen, Vickie (Tim) Bailey, Judy (Dave) Collopy, all of Kenton; sister-in-law Billie (late brother George) Harp of Kenton; special niece, Tammy Manns of Kenton; 14 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sons Johnny Cowen and James Cowen; sister Nancy (Tom) McClaren of Kenton; brother Don (Theresa) Harp; grandson Heath Marling; 1 great grandson.

LaVerna was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Eagles Lodge 2163 Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and dancing all the time to her favorite music. She loved vacationing at Pigeon Forge, TN with her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
