The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Findlay and Bucyrus districts held a Buckle Up, Batter Up Saved by the Belt event at Fifth Third Field in Toledo Thursday evening.

Twenty people joined the Saved by the Belt Club during the pregame ceremony before the Mud Hens game.

Their safety belts saved them from sustaining life-threatening injuries in crashes that occurred in northwest Ohio this year.

Among those joining the Saved by the Belt Club in our region were Ada residents Kianna Green and Brailey Campbell. They were involved in a crash on State Route 309 in Allen County on March 7.

Arlington resident Michael Brinkman also joined the club. He was involved in a crash that occurred on Interstate 75 in Wood County on February 25.

Ohio State Patrol Trooper of the Year Dana Skinner encourages motorists to buckle up every trip, every time, “In 2022, 527 people who were not wearing a safety belt lost their life in Ohio crashes. It’s simple, safety belts save lives and reduce injuries in crashes.”
