Photo: Hardin Northern Local School District The first-grade students at Hardin Northern have been researching bats. They have watched videos, read books, and taken notes. The students used their notes to make their own books. They used nonfiction text features like headings, bold words and table of contents. The students each had a turn to read the book to the class and enjoyed painting a bat craft.

The Hardin County Community Foundation received a strong financial report at its quarterly meeting this week in Kenton. Trustees learned that the total portfolio has climbed to 13.2 million dollars, which is up 16.72% year to date. Also at the meeting, the board approved a series of policies. The Ridgemont School District is seeking renewal of a .75% income tax levy on the November 5th ballot. The current levy will expire in December of 2025, and renewal will continue to provide school funding for 2026 to 2031.
