Volunteers Sought to Assist at Eats on the Street

The Kenton Historic Courthouse District is requesting the support of local civic groups, clubs and organizations to volunteer their time to assist at Eats on the Street. The Kenton Historic Courthouse District is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and appreciates the support of the organizations. Call 419-673-4131 to learn more about the volunteer opportunities. Eats on the Street will take place Saturday July 15 from 5 until 10pm in downtown Kenton.

This is OSP Junior Cadet Week

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Junior Cadet Week is underway this week. The five-day training course is for select high school students who are interested in learning about law enforcement. Each year, the students have the opportunity to participate in the intense and immersive training course. It is held at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy.

Wilson Sporting Goods Receives Ohio TCA Assistance

Scam Phone Calls Reported in Hancock County

Hancock County residents are again receiving phone calls from someone stating they are an officer from the office. The caller is asking for personal information.  The Sheriff's Office received multiple calls this past weekend from residents reporting the phone calls they are receiving. Residents are again reminded that this is a scam, and they should not give out any information.

Fire Damages a Home on North Main Street in Kenton

Moderate damage occurred to a house after a fire in Kenton Sunday evening. According to information from the Kenton Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to 534 North Main Street at around 9:30 pm. The house started in the kitchen, and most of the damage was contained to that area. The loss for property and contents was listed at $25,000. New Executive Director Named for United Way of Hardin County

A new Executive Director for the United Way of Hardin County has been announced. Martha Evans-Nau took over the position after the resignation of Sean Beck last week. Beck stated that he wanted to focus more of this time on his business and his young children. Evans-Nau served as the Community Engagement Director for the United Way of Hardin County prior to being named Executive Director.

Hardin County – For the period of May 1-May 31, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 2.47 inches of rain in Hardin County. Last year, the average rainfall for the same time was 5.41 inches. Rainfall for May was 1.62 inches less than the ten-year average rainfall for the month.
