The rain Friday afternoon may have forced the Dedication Ceremony for Chad Roof’s Inclusive Playground to be moved indoors, but that didn’t dampen the spirit of those who attended.

A large crowd packed inside the gym at Simon Kenton School to attend the ceremony, which also served as a Memorial Service for Chad who passed away at the age of 37 in October of last year.

Afterward, speaking for the family, Chad’s sister Taylor Klinger talked about the importance of the playground for the family and the community, ”It’s the most important thing, So my brother just, he just screamed inclusivity. He never met a stranger, and for this community, I think we have a true need for people with developmental disabilities and sensory issues, and I’m just so excited for this to be open.”

A ribbon cutting for the playground was also held at the gym.

Chad Roof’s Inclusive Playground is located at 910 West Franklin Street behind the YMCA in Kenton.
