The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The national campaign is dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence.
Congress made the declaration in 1989.
Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country for a national effort to uplift the needs, voices and experiences of survivors.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline states that early 3 in 10 women and 1 in 10 men in the US have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by a partner and reported it having a related impact on their functioning.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. It is likely, that you know someone who is or has been affected by domestic violence.
Safe Haven of Hardin County will be posting information on its Facebook page all month long.
They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
