Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Looking For A Dispatcher

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS for full-time tele-communicator (dispatcher).

The Dispatcher will be responsible for receiving and prioritizing non-emergent & emergent phone calls for service to our Hardin County Central Dispatch Center – a state of the art emergency Public Service Answering Point. He/she will be responsible for the management of assigning the proper police, fire, and EMS resources for call response, using the Computer Aided Dispatching system. Paid on the job training will be provided which will lead to state certification for Emergency Medical Dispatching, Fire Service Dispatching and Law Enforcement Dispatching.

The successful applicant will be a minimum of 18 years of age, with a high school diploma or GED certificate; and possess a customer service mindset. Familiarity with computers, word processing programs, typing and telephone use is expected; the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is a must. The dispatcher will work a 40-hour work week within an assigned 8-hour shift (8am-4pm; 4pm-12 midnight; or 12am-8am). The applicant will undergo and successfully complete an extensive background investigation, a psychological evaluation and drug screening.
