Healthcare.gov Plan Enrollment Reaches Historic Levels Nationally, Statewide

With about one week remaining to enroll for 2022 Marketplace healthcare plans, enrollment numbers have reached historic levels across the U.S. and in Ohio

Columbus, Ohio (January 10, 2022) – Nearly 10 million Americans have selected individual market plans through HealthCare.gov, including 247,000 Ohioans.

Individuals aqcross Ohio are finding healthcare plans they can afford and that meet their needs. 2022 enrollment closes January 15, but there is still time for Ohioans that don’t have coverage to get free help shopping for and enrolling in HealthCare.gov plans from a trained, licensed federal Navigator. Certified Navigators can help consumers shop for affordable health insurance options and apply for financial assistance to reduce the cost of Marketplace plans.

“We have appointments available now to help you check this off your list for 2022,” said Zach Reat, director of health initiatives at the Ohio Association of Foodbanks. “If you want coverage for 2022, you must enroll by January 15, so the time is now. Shopping for health insurance can be a complicated process, but we’re here to make it easy for you. Plus, 4 out of 5 consumers can find a plan for $10 a month or less.”

Navigators like those working as part of the Get Covered Ohio campaign are certified and licensed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Ohio Department of Insurance. Not only are their services free, but they are required to be completely fair and impartial when helping consumers shop for the best health coverage. Services are available in-person, online and by phone and in multiple languages.

Individuals can enroll for 2022 health insurance plans through January 15, 2022. Enrollment in Medicaid coverage for consumers with limited incomes, as well as Special Enrollment Periods for consumers that experience life changes or loss of coverage or those with incomes below 150 percent of the federal poverty level, is available year-round.
