As Americans get ready for the 4th of July, the Kenton-Hardin Health Department is reminding everyone to be safe.

The health department will be sharing information this week on how to keep you and loved ones safe leading to the holiday Saturday.

Today, they started with fireworks.

They said you should always read the instructions first, have an adult present, use fireworks outdoors only, never point or throw fireworks at another person or animal, have a bucket of water or water hose handy and never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not fully ignited.
