Kenton School Superintendent Releases Information on School Year

As directed by Governor DeWine in response to the coronavirus, Kenton City Schools will be continuing at home learning through the end of the school year, May 21, 2020.

 

Beginning May 11, 2020, teachers will start reducing assignments and closing out the school year just as they do when we are in session.

 

Teachers will continue to be in contact with students through May 21, 2020.

 

Although the Kenton City School district facilities remain closed, you can call any of the building offices with questions, and your call will be returned.

Student Collection of Belongings:

Each building will develop a schedule and system to allow students to pick-up any belongings and turn in items for the 2019-2020 school year on May 18, 2020-May 21, 2020.

 

More information will be shared in the upcoming week about this process.

 

Student Chromebooks:

 

We will not be collecting student chromebooks until the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. More information about this process will be released with orientation materials in July or August.

 

Students who need to have a computer repaired can fill out the repair form  https://go.kcs.me/repairform or call the district office at 419-673-0775 ext. 4001.

 

Be sure to leave a contact number and if text messages can be received.

 

Student Lunches:

 

School Year – We will continue providing our school breakfasts and lunches through May 21, 2020 – end of school calendar. The same process will be in place with pick-ups on Monday and Thursday at the assigned sites every week through May 21, 2020. Any new family wishing to pick-up school lunches, should complete the google form https://go.kcs.me/lunchdelivery or call the district office at 419-673-0775.

Any family who is currently receiving lunches does not need to fill out the form.

 

Summer – May 22, 2020-May 29, 2020 we will be transitioning to our summer lunch program and will not be providing meals. Starting on June 4th, we will begin serving lunches only, through our 2020 Summer Lunch Program.

 

More information will be released about the summer lunch program in the upcoming weeks.

 

WILDCAT HEALTH CLINIC:

 

The Wildcat health clinic will be shifting any needed on-site medical visits to our Espy Street location. Other patients who don’t need face-to-face visits will also be “seen” by an Espy Street Provider through telehealth.

 

Those who are receiving support from our school behavioral health specialists will be able to “see” those providers through telehealth.

PRESCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION AND SCREENING:

 

Our Preschool/Kindergarten registration process will be done by email/phone for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents need to register their student with Carol Scott, Administrative Assistant at 419-673-7248 Ext.1001 or email at scottc@kentoncityschools.org . Mrs. Scott will provide information to navigate and complete Final Forms. We will communicate the new dates for screening when we have more information.

We anticipate this will happen in August prior to the start of school. Please encourage families of age appropriate Preschool/Kindergarten students to register so we may plan accordingly.

 

The following documents will be required by the first day of school: your child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, custody papers (if applicable), physical (dated January 1, 2020 or after), photo id, and proof of residency. To register for Kindergarten, your child must be five years old on or before August 1, 2020.

SENIOR AWARDS DAY:

 

The Kenton City Schools understands the importance of recognizing our seniors for their accomplishments. We are in the process of designing a video based awards ceremony highlighting all our seniors that will be released May 19th.

 

Graduation/Prom/Athletics:

 

More information about these events will be given as soon as it becomes available. We are awaiting some additional information. We anticipate the information will begin to be released the first of next week.
